A few months ago, I discovered a delightful Scottish kit for needle felting a hedgehog from The Crafty Kit Company. My heart did a jump for joy and I immediately ordered. I was excited to discover that Steiff, a company famous for the invention of the teddy bear and beautiful stuffed animals, also sells fabric, including a realistic hedgehog mohair! I began creating a miniature version just the right size for a fairy. The kit is well designed with clear instructions for a beginner. If you have an interest in needle felting, I recommend exploring their kits. I gave a kit to a fellow lover of hedgehogs, and her full size version turned out equally delightful as my miniature ones!
I have now finished five. Like my fairies and gnomes, each has its own personality and all have warmed my heart. Three have been added to the online shop just in time for spring.
When my daughter noticed the hedgehogs watching me work she asked, "What do you call a group of hedgehogs?" To our great delight, we learned a group of hedgehogs may be known as a prickle. How perfect is that?
